David Oprea

David Oprea has a degree in Romanian Law issued by the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, a degree in European Law granted by Paris 1 Panthéon - Sorbonne University, after graduating the French - Romanian College of European Studies, as well as a Master degree in Business Law from Paris 2 Panthéon - Assas University. He undertook a traineeship in the Paris office of a global American international law firm and also acquired experience as in - house counsel with an Oil & Gas international group, position which helped him develop a flexible and problem-solving approach when dealing with the day-to-day operations of the clients.

During his career of over 15 years as attorney-at-law, David managed complex legal issues such as negotiating and structuring share acquisitions, project finance transactions, marketing of UCITS, assistance in investigations undertaken by the Romanian Competition Council. David is also one the Romanian legal experts which evaluates for the European Commission the conformity of national legislative measures transposing European directives.

David advises especially on mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, competition and European law matters.  He is a former participant as a student to the  “Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition” (Washington, D.C.) and is currently an arbitrator in the „Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot Court Competition” (Vienna and Hong Kong).

He is fluent in English and French and conversant in Italian and is struggling to learn Mandarin.
